Community groups benefit from Mount Emerald Fund

Thirteen community groups in Far North Queensland have secured grants in the second round of funding from the Mount Emerald Wind Farm Community Fund.

Successful applicants were:

  • Lions Club of Mareeba
  • Ravenshoe Meals on Wheels
  • Ravenshoe Tennis Club
  • Mareeba Meals on Wheels
  • Malanda Lions Club
  • Carinya Home for the Aged
  • Atherton Herberton Historic Railway
  • Malanda Tennis Club
  • Mareeba Lioness Club
  • Dimbulah Sports and Pistol Club
  • Atherton Bowls Club
  • Atherton Community Kindergarten
  • Tolga Historical Society

This brings the total number of grants to 22 from the fund’s first year of operation from more than 80 applications.

We are very grateful to the panel of local residents who sift through all the applications and make the difficult decisions about which projects to support.

RATCH-Australia will donate $200,000 (index-linked) every year the Mount Emerald wind turbines are generating safe, clean renewable electricity.

We look forward to hearing more interesting ideas for how this money could be spent next year.

Applications are accepted at any time. Further details, including guidance for applicants and an application form are available at the project website.
