Heritage and Cultural Centre receives over $51,000

The RAC – Alinta Yandin Wind Farm Community Fund has awarded $51,000 to support the Dandaragan Heritage and Cultural Centre early works and planning.

Noting the overwhelming support by the local community for the Cultural Centre, RATCH-Australia Corporation (RAC) CEO, Sahachthorn Putthong presented the cheque to Dandaragan Heritage and Cultural Centre Committee Chairman, Mark Cubitt.

“The Yandin Community Fund advisory committee unanimously supported awarding this project $51,000 to help further develop plans and undertake early earthworks on the site they are leasing from Council.

“I understand this year that other community groups decided not to apply for grants in favour of supporting this project, with a record 18 letters of support received from community groups and leaders.

“It is an ambitious project but the community grant advisory committee are confident the DHCC committee can pull it off,” Mr Putthong said.

Other recipients to receive a grant this year are the Dandaragan Bowling Club $1,000 for sponsorship of their tournament and the Dandaragan Primary School $4,905 for replacement of their shade cloth sail.

The Yandin Wind Farm Community Fund was started during construction of the Wind Farm in 2019 and is committed to fund at least $51,000 (linked to the CPI index) each year for local community initiatives, to make a positive difference within the Shire of Dandaragan over the next two decades.

Including this round, since 2019 the community fund has contributed $260,000 toward local community projects via the community fund, ranging from sporting equipment and playground upgrades to community building repair works and lighting and sound equipment for the repertory club.
