Marulan Solar Farm Development Approval

Terrain Solar (Terrain) is very pleased to have received Development Approval from NSW Department of Planning and Environment for its Marulan Solar Farm.

Located in the Goulburn Mulwaree Council area in regional NSW the project is being developed in partnership with Ratch Australia Corporation (RAC). The proposed development includes a 152 MWac utility scale solar farm with an integrated DC coupled battery energy storage system (BESS) with a total capacity of 81MW / 162MWh, aligning with the NSW decarbonisation transition to meet net-zero emission targets.

“We are really happy to have achieved this important milestone in the development of the Marulan Solar Farm”, said Terrain Development Manager Tom Allen. “

There have not been a lot of renewables DA issued in the last couple of years in NSW, so we are very pleased to have this approval in our hands to make the reality of the project that much closer.

“We see the development approval as a recognition of the quality of the project and an outcome of working closely and collaboratively with our partner RAC, the landholder, community, DPE, Goulburn Mulwaree Council, and our planning consultants Premise. Thanks to them all for their contributions in getting the project to this stage.”

Terrain General Manager, Craig Peters, stated, “Our partners RAC will now take the lead in the next phases to build, operate and maintain the asset as part of their wider Australian portfolio.”

“We can now continue to work closely and productively with Essential Energy and AEMO to finalise the connection approval process. We are hoping to complete the connection approval towards the end of this year, or very early next year, and things are going well. The connection process is always challenging, but with the approach that Essential and AEMO are taking we remain optimistic.”

“Terrain will continue to work closely with RAC, to hand the baton over as we transition to the next phase and closer to construction.”

RAC CEO Polagorn Kheosiplard said this was a significant milestone. “We look forward to building upon the good work achieved to date, and continuing to work closely with the community to ensure a positive lasting legacy, as we have with the nearby Collector Wind Farm which opened in 2021.”
