Windy Hill was Queensland’s first wind farm when construction was completed in 2000. It is located around 4km from Ravenshoe, the highest town in the state, and as the name suggests, benefits from the very windy conditions.
Windy Hill Wind Farm has 20 wind turbines with a generating capacity of 12 MW of electricity, providing enough power for about 3,500 homes. 0.6MW per turbine.
