Latest Community Fund grants announced

Twelve community organisations are the latest to receive grants from the Mount Emerald Wind Farm Community Fund.

The most recent round of funding saw support confirmed for groups based across the Tablelands.

Successful applicants were:

  • Springmount Rural Fire Brigade
  • Mareeba Tennis Club
  • The Dam Outrigger Canoe Club
  • Mareeba Cricket Club
  • Yungaburra Landcare Group
  • Malanda State High School
  • Ravenshoe Meals on Wheels
  • Kuranda Men’s Shed
  • United Tableland Pipe Band
  • Mareeba Men’s Shed
  • Ravenshoe and District Weekly
  • Mareeba Gymnastics Club

More than $100,000 remains in the pot for the second half of the year and applications are encouraged. The deadline for applications is 31 July.

Once applications close a panel of local volunteers will review all submissions and make recommendations for projects and initiatives to be supported by the fund.

Paul McDonald, RATCH-Australia’s site manager for Mount Emerald Wind Farm, said: “We understand that this is a difficult time for clubs and community groups when lots of normal activities can’t go ahead.

“We also know that many organisations in our community were already operating on tight budgets before COVID-19 struck so we’re pleased to be in a position to offer these grants to support their work.”

Application forms and guidance for applicants are available on the project website.

Projects or initiatives located within a 50km radius of the wind farm are eligible for funding. The Fund’s catchment also extends around the Windy Hill Wind Farm at Ravenshoe, which is also owned and operated by RATCH-Australia.

Previous applicants are eligible to reapply.
