Collector Wind Farm

About the project

Collector Wind Farm was fully operational in June 2021 after two years of construction. It is comprised of 54 4.2MW Vestas wind turbines that have a total capacity of 226.8MW. This means that the wind farm has the capacity to produce an annual average of 528GWh. This is equivalent to powering roughly 80,000 NSW households based on the annual average electricity usage. The wind farm will potentially save approximately 320,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year (based on estimates from the International Energy Agency).

During construction 150 jobs were created with some contracts going to local suppliers. Now that the wind farm is in the operations phase there are 10 full time roles to manage the ongoing maintenance and operations of the site.

RATCH-Australia, the project’s developer, owner and operator, will contribute more than $270,000 every year of the wind farm’s working life to support good causes in the Collector region through two Trusts. One Trust is managed by the Upper Lachlan Shire Council. The second trust is called the Collector Community Trust and is advised by three local residents of Collector. So far RATCH has dispersed more than half a million dollars in the region to community groups through these two grant programs.

The Collector Wind Farm is not open to the public but can be viewed from the Hume Highway. If you do have any questions about the wind farm please contact us via 1800 280 013 or via email at enquiries@ratchaustralia.com

Collector Wind Farm

Location

The Collector Wind Farm is located on the Cullerin Range between the Hume Highway and the Collector-Gunning Road in the NSW Southern Tablelands.  The wind farm is located roughly 30mins South of Goulburn and an hour North of Canberra.

The village of Collector is approximately 4km south-east from the nearest of the turbines.

The whole project site covers around 6,200 hectares, of which only around 75-100ha was disturbed during construction.
